For the match number 55 of the IPL 2020, Delhi Capitals (DC) will take on the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an important clash on Monday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Both teams who looked set to qualify for the playoffs about two weeks ago, can now mathematically be ousted from the top four.

Delhi Capitals are on a four-match losing streak and stand a chance to be ousted from the tournament. While DC’s batting has been in disarray in the second half of the tournament, their bowling too has looked innocuous in the last couple of matches. Expect changes in the DC line-up.

IPL 2020: Match 55: Delhi Capitals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore – DC Predicted XI

Prithvi Shaw

Delhi’s problems start at the very top with their opener not firing for most of the season. Prithvi Shaw, who got a couple of half-centuries, has been a walking wicket since. His replacement Ajinkya Rahane also couldn’t do any better. Shaw came back against MI and threw his wicket again with a rash shot. This could well be his last chance to get back in form before touring to Australia.

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan who was Delhi’s star with the bat when others around him couldn’t get going. After achieving the record of scoring back-to-back hundreds, and managing to find a place in India’s T20 squad, his form has slumped too. Dhawan has single-digit scores of 6,0 and 0 since in the last three games. The southpaw will be needed to regain his form in a big game against RCB.

Shreyas Iyer

The Delhi skipper has been guilty of throwing away starts and not capitalizing on the time he spent on the crease. Iyer has got the 20s and 40s, but he gets out at the wrong time. He is the second leading run-scorer for DC scoring 414 runs but at a strike rate of 123. He is the glue that binds the middle-order.

Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant’s being out of form is Delhi’s biggest concern. Their superstar wicketkeeper-batsman has had mediocre returns. That his strike rate is just 112 is more concerning than the number of runs he has scored. For Delhi to make it to the playoffs or win the title, Pant has to be given the freedom to play his shots and be his audacious self.

Alex Carey

Shimron Hetmyer might face the axe as Delhi look to put some stability in their middle-order. More than a basher of the cricket ball, the Capitals need someone to hold the fall of wickets and take the team to a respectable total. Carey in the past couple of years has played that kind of role for Australia. Apart from being solid in the middle-overs, he is capable of hitting sixes as well.

Marcus Stoinis

Marcus Stoinis has played all 13 games for Delhi and has been their standout performer in the lower middle-order. He has won matches for Delhi Capitals with his late finishing and has provided vital contributions with the ball as well. The right-hander has scored 239 runs at a strike rate of 154 in addition to his 8 wickets.

Axar Patel

It came in as a surprise when Axar Patel was dropped for the game against MI, irrespective of the conditions. Axar has shown brilliance with the ball as he has been Delhi’s strength while bowling in the middle-overs. The southpaw has an economy of 6.13 this season and has provided balance to the side with his late-order batting.

The all-rounder should definitely come back for DC’s last league game against RCB in Abu Dhabi. Whether he comes in for Harshal Patel or Praveen Dubey, that has to be seen.

DC might stick with Harshal Patel for his experience in the IPL, especially in an important game over youngster Praveen Dubey. Patel had a good start to his season with a 2/34 against KKR. However, he hasn’t been consistent. Delhi would hope for a seasoned campaigner like Harshal Patel to come good in a crunch game.

Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin is Delhi Capitals seniormost player in the absence of Amit Mishra. The off-spinner has been instrumental with the ball, especially in the powerplay. Ashwin has 9 wickets at an economy of 7.86. Against a strong middle-order of RCB, Delhi will hope for a dominant performance from their spinners.

Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada’s high-quality pace bowling brought Delhi Capitals in the top four spots. Rabada has picked 23 wickets at an economy of 8.19 and is a strong contender for the purple cap. With the team disintegrating, Rabada too has gone wicketless in the last couple of games. Delhi’s hopes lay heavily on the South-African teenager.

Anrich Nortje has been a sensation for DC in the bowling department, bending his back and cranking high pace. He has picked 16 wickets at an economy of 7.94. The South-African seamer has picked at least a wicket in almost every game and has broken the record for the fastest delivery in the IPL.
