Two of India’s greatest batsmen at present will be up against each other in the tenth match of IPL 2020. Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore will host Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians on Monday in Dubai as they face for the first time this year. So far, both the franchises have lost and won a match each and would be aiming towards more consistency.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) largely cracked against Kings XI Punjab in their second game after a ten-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opener. RCB’s death-bowling displayed ghosts of the past as they kept leaking runs in the death overs, helping Punjab reach 206. In particular, Virat Kohli endured a forgettable day at the office, dropping KL Rahul twice and managing only a single with the bat as they crashed to 109 while chasing. The franchise could drop Dale Steyn from the eleven in favour of Chris Morris or Isuru Udana.

In contrast, Mumbai Indians bounced back by beating Kolkata Knight Riders after losing to Chennai Super Kings in the tournament opener. Mumbai Indians’ all the departments came together and in particular, Rohit Sharma, who bagged the man of the match award for his knock of 80. The new-ball bowlers kept the leash around the KKR batsmen as they did not take the foot off the pedal in the middle overs either to register a convincing win. Hence, the defending champions will likely stick with the same eleven.

The previous game of RCB saw the old issues resurfacing as there was overdependency on a few batsmen to keep themselves going. RCB will likely benefit dropping Dale Steyn from the line-up and bringing in Isuru Udana, who is not only a hard-hitter but a skilful bowler. Nevertheless, Mumbai, who leads the head to head amongst the two, will likely come out on top.
