Former India batsman Virender Sehwag has taken yet another dig at MS Dhoni for his reluctance to bat higher up in the order for Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2020.

Before the start of the competition, there were speculations that the veteran CSK skipper might promote himself in order to give him some time to settle down before going for the kill. The absence of Suresh Raina was being considered as another reason for the same.

But to everyone’s surprise, MS Dhoni not only decided against promoting himself but went on to demote himself. In the first two games, he came out to bat at number seven. In the tournament-opener against Mumbai Indians, his move worked as Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja played fine cameos to help CSK win.

But against Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, MS Dhoni’s decision backfired. His ploy to come right at the death did not work out. In both the matches, the contest was already decided by the time MS Dhoni came out to bat. Against Royals, he came out to bat at number seven while against Delhi, he batted at number six as CSK lost both the games.

And with the former India skipper showing no signs of promoting himself, his former teammate Virender Sehwag has poked fun at him. The batting legend hilariously said that India might introduce bullet trains before the wicketkeeper-batsman promotes himself up the batting order. He also took a shot at the way CSK played during their 44-run defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals.

“Even then MS Dhoni did not come in to bat. Now, it seems India might get bullet trains before MS Dhoni makes up his mind to bat at No. 4,” Sehwag was quoted as saying on a Facebook video.

“There’s no comparison between a metro and a rail but like Delhi Capitals, Metro is young. Delhi blew the whistles out of Chennai’s dad army. In a T20 situation, on a green wicket like Perth, if you play a Test match, then I would rather watch Sooraj Barjatya movie. Chennai’s batting was quite like that,” he added.

CSK are currently languishing sixth in the points table with one win from their last three games. They will be seen in action next on October 2 when they lock horns against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
