Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a 20-run win over SunRisers Hyderabad at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday to grab two crucial points and avenge the defeat that they had suffered against the ‘Orange Army’ earlier in the tournament.

For the first time in IPL 2020, CSK batted first. Dhoni promoted Sam Curran at the top of the order and the move paid dividends as the southpaw took the attack to Khaleel Ahmed before eventually getting dismissed for a 21-ball 31 courtesy a pearler from Sandeep Sharma.

Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu scored their respective 40s but it was the late innings push by Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni that led to CSK posting 167 in 20 overs.

Chasing 168, SRH lost their top-3- David Warner, Jonny Bairstow and Manish Pandey- in the first 10 overs. There was no real intent from the SRH batsmen in the first 10 overs, which meant that the likes of Kane Willamson and others had all the running to do in the final 1o.

Williamson scored his half-century and while he, Vijay Shankar and Rashid Khan tried their level best, it eventually proved to be a bridge too far to scale as they ended up 20 runs short.

Thanks to today’s result, CSK have now gained six points after 8 games while SRH remain at the 5th spot after having lost back-to-back fixtures.
