It is not everyday that one manages to shut Michael Vaughan up on Twitter but the International Cricket Council (ICC) might just have done that. Vaughan is one of the most active cricketers on Twitter and his outspoken nature means he ends up winning conversations more often than not. However, his decision to even challenge the ICC left him red-faced.

It all started when the Twitter handle of the apex body of the game posted a picture of Kohli, showing the batsman sitting on a throne with a crown on his head and a bat. Fans from across the globe slammed the ICC for the special treatment to Kohli and Vaughan joined the bandwagon too.

Taking a shot at the ICC, Vaughan tweeted:

“Nothing like impartiality!!!”

However, the ICC’s Twitter handle was in no mood to listen to the criticism and gave a fitting reply. The ICC posted two pictures, showing Virat Kohli’s rank in ODIs and his performance at last ICC awards.  Earlier this year, Kohli scripted history by becoming the first player in history to win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, as well as the ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and the ICC ODI Player of the Year awards.

Kohli was also named captain of ICC’s Test and ODI teams of 2018 after yet another fruitful year with the bat. In 2018, Kohli scored 1,322 runs at an average of 55.08 in 13 Tests with five hundreds while in 14 ODIs he amassed 1202 runs at an astonishing average of 133.55 with six centuries.

Here is the savage reply from the ICC for Michael Vaughan:

Virat Kohli, meanwhile, led India to a thumping six-wicket win over South Africa in their tournament-opener on Wednesday. Riding on Rohit Sharma’s unbeaten ton, India chased down 228 with ease to open their campaign in style.
