With Jofra Archer making waves with his bowling in the ongoing Big Bash League, former England skipper Michael Vaughan has tipped the speedster to get a huge deal in the upcoming auction of the Indian Premier League.

The Barbados born youngster has taken Australia by storm, earning the status of a cult hero among Hobard Hurricanes fans. He was relatively unknown Down-Under after being announced as a late replacement for English bowling all-rounder Tom Curran, but there is no denying the fact that he is now one of the most popular players of the Big Bash League. So far, he has taken nine wickets in six games for the Hurricanes and is looking primed to add a lot more to the tally.

In fact, Vaughan has been so impressed with his performance that he even urged England and Wales Cricket Board to take quick action and make sure that the 22-year-old quick does not get ‘lost to T20 leagues’. The former England batsman took to Twitter to lavish praise on the youngster and urging ECB to act quickly.

“This kid is fantastic .. I reckon his #IPL deal will be a huge one .. Doesn’t qualify for England for 4 more years .. unless the ECB change I reckon he might be lost to T20 leagues rather than see him in the Test arena,” he wrote.

Archer has already made it clear that he wants to play for England and has already proved his credentials. In the last season of County Championship, he took 61 wickets at a healthy average of 25.29, finishing the season as Sussex’s highest wicket-taker. Archer, who played for West Indies at the under-19 level, took 80 wickets across formats for Sussex last year.

“I want to play for England. I think the conditions over here suit me a lot more than anywhere else, so I feel I would be better suited for a longer career in England,” he had said last month.

However, there are still a lot of uncertainties over the exact date that he will qualify for England. The ECB set a seven-year residency period for those born overseas back in 2012; the International Cricket Council is mulling further changes, making it next to impossible to see Archer in England colors shortly.

Meanwhile, Archer is likely to attract big bids in the upcoming auction of the IPL. With his ability to bowl consistently at over 90-mile-per-hour and clearing boundaries with his big hitting, he is the kind of player which every team would love to have on its side. He could emulate his Sussex and Hobart Hurricanes team-mate Tymal Mills who was signed by Royal Challengers Bangalore for £1.4million.
