Mohammad Nabi Completes 100 ODI Matches Along With Afghanistan

Mohammad Nabi has completed 100 One Day Internationals appearances along with Afghanistan. The country is playing their 100th match in the 50-overs format today against Ireland.

Thus, Mohammad Nabi hasn’t missed a match for his country since they played their first ODI at the topmost level. Afghanistan played their maiden match against Scotland on 19 April 2009. They went on to win their debut match by a margin of 89 runs. Meanwhile, Afghanistan has put 189 runs on the board in their 100th appearance.

Afghanistan has won 52 matches and lost 45 matches in the 99 matches they have played thus far, with two matches ending in No Result. However, they have played most of their games against emerging nations.

From taking baby steps at the International circuit, Afghanistan has shown the promise to do well. The Afghanistan team also went on to qualify for the next year World Cup. In fact, they were the winners of the World Cup Qualifiers held in Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Nabi has scored 2288 runs in the 99 matches. Furthermore, he has scalped 105 wickets while playing for his nation. Nabi has also featured in 65 T20I matches for Afghanistan.

On the other hand, India’s legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most number of consecutive matches. The Master Blaster played 185 matches on the trot from April 1990 to April 1998.

Former South African skipper Hansie Cronje played 162 matches from the period of 1993 to 2000 before he was banned due to match-fixing. Former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene had two streaks of 100+ consecutive matches for the Island nation.
