Meanwhile, former Indian selector Bhupinder Singh recently spoke about why BCCI decided to choose him as the captain in 2007. He led the team across formats for nearly a decade achieving great success. He went onto win the T20 World Cup, ODI World Cup and the Champions Trophy.
“Apart from being an automatic choice in the team, you look at the player’s cricketing acumen, body language, ability to lead from the front and man management skills. We saw MS Dhoni’s approach to the game, body language, how he spoke to others; we got a positive feedback,” Singh told Hindustan Times in an interview.
The Indian team will be playing two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is in the West Indies next month. The BCCI has decided to stick with the senior players for the series. Rohit Sharma will stay on as the captain for the tour. However, the board is eagerly looking for his replacement asap.
