Royal Challengers Bangalore changed their batting order in their clash against Chennai Super Kings. Though they won the contest, the changes in the RCB batting order surprised many. One of them was former Kiwi pacer Simon Doull who is a part of the commentary team in IPL 2022.

Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 173/ 8 with contributions from Virat Kohli (30), Faf du Plessis (38), Mahipal Lomror (42), Rajat Patidar (21) and Dinesh Karthik (26). However despite several batsmen contributed, what surprised Doull was where in the batting order Rajat Patidar batted.

Talking to Cricbuzz, Simon Doull expressed his disappointment over Patidar being sent at number five and not on number three on the batting order.

“Can I put another number out there? It’s a thing RCB seem to do. The number is 3. When they have success at no.3, why do they change that success? I mean, Rajat Patidar.. what was wrong with him in the last game?” Doull said on Cricbuzz.

“Sorry, did I miss something? Did he do something wrong in the last game? Doull further added.

As it turned out, the right-hander batted with responsibility and added a 44-run stand with Mahipal Lomror and provided the platform for Dinesh Karthik to launch an attack in the end overs.

RCB put up 173/ 8 batting first. Chasing the total CSK reached 160 in 20 overs and lost the game by 13 runs. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis said that his team is moving towards the right direction after notching up a first win after three back to back losses.

“We put up a decent total. We are moving in the right direction. We have been very good in the bowling department. I thought 165 was a par score on that and anything above that was a bonus. I thought the Powerplay was a good time to score. The fielding was amazing. Some great catching and good bowling indeed. We are very lucky to have experienced guys. Very good to have me lean on the senior players” said Faf.
