Rajasthan Royals have made a good start to their campaign in IPL 2020 but there is little denying that they would definitely love to have their talismanic allrounder Ben Stokes back in the team before the business phase of the tournament starts. The team would want him even more after the way they lost against Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday.
After two convincing wins in Sharjah, the inaugural winners of the IPL struggled in challenging conditions of Dubai and ended up losing the game by 37 runs. Their middle-order could not deliver after the top-order’s failure and Ben Stokes’ addition would definitely provide some much-needed solidity to the batting order.
The England star would also boost the bowling line up. But as of now there is little clarity over his availability. The World Cup-winner is currently in New Zealand to be with his family after his father Ged was diagnosed with brain cancer. The franchise has not given any update on their star man either.
Shane Warne on Ben Stokes’ availability:
Rajasthan Royals mentor Shane Warne, on Wednesday, dropped a big hint the franchise has not given up on its hopes of seeing the allrounder in UAE. The legendary spinner said that the team is hopeful Ben Stokes would play a part in IPL 2020.
“Hopefully, Ben Stokes would play a part this year, he’s a big loss and our thoughts are with him, but you know, add Ben to the team that played the other night and it looks a very very good side,” Shane Warne told PTI.
Recently, there were reports suggesting that the allrounder was likely to join the team in the first week of October. Ben Stokes also fueled the comeback reports by posting pictures of his training from New Zealand.
