Suspended Australia captain and vice-captain, Steven Smith and David Warner made a terrific return to Grade A cricket in Australia after scoring some good runs. While Steven Smith scored a patient 85 for Sutherland, David Warner went onto smash a brilliant century for Randwick-Petersham. It was a great moment for the duo to return to Grade cricket in the best of manners.

However, Steven Smith got caught as a leading edge went straight to the mid-off. On the other hand, opening batsman, David Warner scored a brilliant century against St Georges at the Coogee Oval. A trademark leap marked his maiden century in competitive cricket since the ball-tampering scandal back in March.

The former Australia skipper was playing for Sutherland against Mosman in the New South Wales Premier Cricket Tournament. Around more than 1000 spectators came to assemble in the ground due to the presence of Steven Smith.

The crowd got treated to some fine display of batsmanship. However, Smith’s innings studded with six fours and a six.

Ever since the ball-tampering saga which unfolded in Cape Town back in March, Smith and Warner have only appeared in the Global T20 League in Canada as well as the Caribbean Premier League. It was their very first game in Australia since the incident in Cape Town.

Cricket Australia slapped them with a 12-month ban which restricts them from playing for Australia, their state teams and the Big Bash League. However, they are free to play cricket outside Australia. However, they denied a contract with the UAE League and have signed a contract with Grade A cricket in Australia.

The suspension is slated to end on 28th March. It means they will miss out on the international cricketing action for the whole of home summer.

However, they will be hopeful of returning to the Australian squad by the time the 2019 World Cup sets off in England and Wales 30th May.
