The Windies are going to be without the services of their talisman all-rounders Sunil Narine and Andre Russell for the ODI series England. Both the players have informed Cricket West Indies about their unavailability. Narine has informed the board that he is not confident about his bowling action yet. On the other hand, the combative all-rounder Russell is not sure whether he can cope with his knee injury in the 50-overs format.

Meanwhile, Sunil Narine hasn’t played an ODI for the Windies in the last two years. However, the talisman spinner wants to get back to International cricket for his country. Narine has had issues with his action and he tried to recalibrate in 2014. The off-spinner was reported for a suspected action in the Champions Trophy of 2013.

Narine is still struggling with his action.

In fact, Narine had also withdrawn from the West Indies squad in the 2015 World Cup to work on his action. Narine is set to work with spin bowling consultant Carl Crowe. Thus, there is a slim chance of Narine playing in the upcoming World Cup.

On the other hand, Andre Russell is optimistic about playing in the ODI showpiece. Russell has been playing T20 cricket across the globe and is plying on his trade in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League.

He was also named as the replacement for Steven Smith for Multan Sultans in the forthcoming season of Pakistan Super League. The pugnacious all-rounder last played his ODI for the Windies in July.

Meanwhile, the Windies is currently locking horns with England in the first Test match. The hosts are in shoo-in position as they have set a gargantuan target of 628 runs.

Windies skipper Jason Holder scored a majestic double hundred whereas Shane Dowrich also scored a fine century. Kemar Roach had scalped a five-wicket haul to bundle out the visitors for paltry 77 in the first dig.
