The Australian Media is the Worst, Says AB de Villiers
Just like their national cricket team, the Australian team is also infamous for getting under the opposition players’ skin.
In fact, they remain so much involved that they are sometimes called the 12th man for the Australian team. Who can forget their conduct when Australia toured India last year for a five-match series?
Despite their skipper Steven Smith being caught red-handed cheating while reviewing a decision, the media constantly targetted India skipper Virat Kohli. Their attack was under the belt, as they gave him names and compared him with animals. And it looks like; the players are also well aware of how the Australian media is.
In a recent interview with Eros Now, Royal Challengers Bangalore teammates Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers opened up on the media of different countries.
De Villiers started the proceedings by calling Australian media the worst. He then took a shot at the English counterparts.
“The Australian media is the worst in my opinion. English journalists are also quite bad, but they are quite clever. They will ask tricky questions. The Aussies are not so clever, but they are pretty bad,” he opined.
Kohli soon joined in and seconded de Villiers’ comments. At the same time, he had some encouraging words for the English media.
“When you go to England, they are equal for their team and the opposition as well. They are very critical of both sides, but they will praise the opposition more if they do well. We don’t get that in Australia. If you do well in Australia, you will get just a small mention in the newspaper.
The Australian media was recently in big action after Steven Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft were caught in ball-tampering incident. As of now, all the three are banned from the game.
