New Zealand pacer Trent Boult in a recent interview said that he finds satisfaction in forcing a world-class cricketer such as Virat Kohli—to make mistakes. The pacer registered figures of three for 12 as India were reduced to 90 for six – by the end of play on Day 2.

Thus, India have a slender lead of 97 runs over the hosts, but they look in real trouble of losing the second Test match as well unless the India batsmen do a good job on third day’s play. During this whole series, the Kiwis bowlers have been able to keep Kohli quiet.

On Sunday, the Indian skipper managed just 3 and 14 runs respectively in the two innings of the second Test. Boult, meanwhile, finds it extremely satisfying that his side has been able to nullify the threat of Kohli.

Nice to see Virat Kohli making errors under pressure: Trent Boult

Speaking in an interview after the end of Day 2, the Kiwis pacer revealed New Zealand’s strategy regarding Kohli.

“He (Kohli) is one of the best players in the world, no doubt about that,” Boult said.

“Obviously, he is a big player for them and we just tried to put enough pressure on him, keep him quiet and soak up those boundary balls, and it was nice to see him make a few errors,” he added.

The 30-year-old pacer continued, “We were lucky to get two that lined up and hit him on the pads nicely and it was a good feeling to see the back of him.”

Boult also expressed his sympathy for the Indian bowlers, who seem to have struggled to adapt as per condition in New Zealand.

“Probably, they are used to playing on low and slow pitches in India and it took time for them to get adjusted. Just like if I bowl in India, it will be foreign conditions for me,” said the left-arm speedster.
