After handing out a defeat to India in the first Test at Wellington, Trent Boult expects Virat Kohli’s men will stage a strong comeback in the second Test at Christchurch. New Zealand are currently leading the two-match Test series 1-0, thanks to some excellent bowling from the likes of Boult, Tim Southee and Kyle Jamieson.

Having picked up five wickets in the first test, including a four-wicket haul in the second innings, Boult also hopes that there would be some grass at Christchurch for better assistance.

After defeating India, New Zealand achieved their 100th Test win and became the first team to hand out a beating to the Men in Blue in the ICC World Test Championship. Virat’s team had won seven consecutive Test matches ahead of their first loss at the hands of the Kiwis.

He continued, “From my point of view, hope there is grass on the wicket. There is always a good surface here. It also tends to turn. From my point of view, I like the cloud cover that exists here. Coming back into Test cricket is always a challenge. It is the toughest format.”

When quizzed about his feelings ahead of the second Test, Boult said he’s excited to play India once again.

“We enjoy bowling here. We are looking to test it around here against India. We know what we are doing and we are excited about it,” he added.

The second Test between India and New Zealand commences from 29th February until 4th March.
