IND vs SA: Twitter Reacts As South Africa Secure ODI Series With Victory In Second ODI vs India
A hapless Indian team was humbled for the fourth time in a row as South Africa took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match ODI series. The final ODI will be a dead rubber set to be played on Sunday.
After opting to bat first, KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan stitched a 50-run stand before the latter was dismissed. Virat Kohli was sent back for a duck in the very next over.
Rishabh Pant and Rahul then combined to revive the innings. Pant in particular was outstanding and counter-attacked brilliantly while Rahul played the role of the anchor.
Pant fell just 15 runs short of a well-deserved century which would have been his maiden hundred in ODIs. A similar middle-order collapse saw India fall further before a 7th wicket partnership of 48 between Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin took them to 287.
The target might have seemed enough at the halfway stage but Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan came out guns blazing, putting up a 132-run stand for the opening wicket.
The Indian bowlers looked toothless and could barely make an impact or stem the flow of runs. De Kock fell for 78 while Malan was dismissed on 91. Their wickets came too late though as Aiden Markram and Rassie van der Dussen completed the formalities.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to South Africa’s victory in the second ODI:
Only two things to cheer about for India. Bumrah is in a different league and Pant produced an innings of great class.

India’s white ball bowling will need a real re-think ahead of the two ICC events. It’s not the same luxury as in red ball cricket. #<!---->I<!---->n<!---->d<!---->v<!---->S<!---->A

Time to look beyond some of these bowlers in white ball cricket. In a T20 world year when bilateral ODI cricket has very little significance India should try newer bowlers rather than going back to Bhuvi et al.

Truth is bitter
– A country that has commercialized the game is now paying the price. Keep money and game separately.
– By running the biggest league doesn't mean to automatically expect to win as well
– Media hype doesn't make average cricketers successful cricketers #<!---->I<!---->N<!---->D<!---->v<!---->s<!---->S<!---->A— Daily Stock Picks (@kamran13) J<!---->a<!---->n<!---->u<!---->a<!---->r<!---->y<!----> <!---->2<!---->1<!---->,<!----> <!---->2<!---->0<!---->2<!---->2

Indian ODI strategy needs a bit of rejig. Interesting to see if India looks to change their tactics & what they're looking at. India's inability to pick wickets in the PP hurting them. In the 2 games spin hasn't had a telling impact.11-40 overs is a pet peeve in batting & bowling
