Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant had an oops moment as he lost his bat while trying to hit a reverse shot during his team’s match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL 2022, but despite that, the ball went to the boundary, while Pant retrieved his willow.
The two sides clashed in the 19th match of the Indian Premier League season 15 at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The KKR came into this match with 3 wins from 4 matches, leading the points table, while DC is placed 7th with 1 win from 3 games.
Kolkata captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss against his former franchise, the Delhi Capitals, and chose to bat first. The KKR team went in unchanged, but Delhi made one change, bringing in Khaleel Ahmed for Anrich Nortje.
Prithvi Shaw (51) and David Warner (61) added 93 runs for the opening wicket in just 8.4 overs. Rishabh Pant promoted himself to no.3 and added a quick 27 runs. Warner got out to Umesh Yadav after Prithvi Shaw had been clean bowled by Varun Chakravarthy.
Sunil Narine then pegged back the scoring somewhat by dismissing Lalit Yadav and Rovman Powell, leaving DC 161/4 in 15 overs. But Shardul Thakur and Akshar Patel came together to power DC to an imposing final total.
Delhi Capitals ended their 20 overs with 215/5 on the board, as Axar Patel remained not out on 22 in 14 balls with 2 fours and 1 six, while Shardul Thakur made 29* in 11 balls with 3 sixes and 1 four.
Rishabh Pant Hits A Boundary Despite Losing His Bat While Playing The Shot, Which Narrowly Misses The Stumps
On the second ball of the 11th over bowled by Varun Chakravarthy, Rishabh Pant tried to hit a reverse scoop-sweep kind of a shot and while he connected with the ball, he lost his balance and lost the grip on his bat as he completed the swing.
The bat narrowly missed the stumps as it went flying past them, while the ball traveled to the third man boundary for a four.
