SunRisers Hyderabad have stormed into the playoffs with a thumping ten-wicket win over table-toppers Mumbai Indians in the must-win clash. The Hyderabad-based outfit has finished the league stage at the third spot with 7 wins from 14 games and will take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator.

Skipper David Warner and his new opening partner Wriddhiman Saha starred with the bat again. The duo shared an unbeaten stand of 151 runs in 17.1 overs to guide SRH to the win. The Australia star remained unbeaten on 85 off 58 balls while Saha scored 58 off 45 balls.

Earlier in the game, SRH bowlers came up with a fine show to restrict the defending champions to 149 for 8. The likes of Quinton de Kock (25), Suryakumar Yadav (36), Ishan Kishan (33) got the starts but failed to capitalise.

Towards the end, Kieron Pollard played a fine knock of 41 off 25 balls to guide his team to a competitive total. For SRH, Sandeep Sharma picked three wickets for 34 runs while Jason Holder and Nadeem picked two apiece while giving away just 25 and 19 runs respectively.

David Warner’s reaction:

Speaking after the game, David Warner started by saying that the win feels good after the ‘dreadful’ 12-run loss while chasing a modest 126 against Kings XI Punjab. He further praise the bowlers for restricting Mumbai to 149. David Warner was also all praises for his side’s ‘never say die attitude’ as he expressed his delight over sealing the playoffs spot.

“It feels good now after that dreadful loss against KXIP. They rested a few players but it hold them to 150 on this ground was great. A lot of credit goes to the bowlers, Nadeem was superb,” said David Warner.

“We were trying to be as clinical with the bat then, and it feels good. We try and put our best foot forward, and that stems from the franchise owners. They are great people and it is like a family. We have a never say die attitude and that is how we approach each game,” he added.
