India captain Virat Kohli added yet another to his already illustrious cap on Saturday during the ongoing historic day-night Test against Bangladesh. The right-handed batsman became the first Indian to score a Test century in pink-ball cricket. He achieved the incredible feat on the second day of the ongoing game to put India  in the driver’s seat.

The century also helped him achieve some more record. He surpassed Ricky Ponting to grab the second place in the list of captains with the most Test hundreds. Kohli now has 20 hundred as captain while Ponting has 19. Former South Africa captain Graeme Smith head the list with an impressive 25 Test tons as captain.

Virat Kohli also went past Steve Smith on the list of batsmen with most hundreds in Test cricket. Kohli is now tied at the 17 spot alongside South Africa’s Graeme Smith and Australia’s Allan Border who also have 27 Test hundreds. Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring a staggering 51 Test centuries.

Rahul Dravid is the record holder:

While Virat Kohli has been receiving plaudits from all around for being the first Indian to score a Test ton with the pink ball, not many know that he is not the first Indian to score a century with a pink ball in a competitive match. The record is held by none other than former India cricketer Rahul David. The legendary batsman had scored the ton while playing for MCC way back in 2011.

Dravid had played the English County Championship curtain-raiser against Nottinghamshire. The pink ball was trialed during that match. The ex-cricketer had registered a two-ball duck in the first innings before making amends with an impressive ton in the second. His 106 was the highest score of the match as he helped MCC win the match by 174 runs.
