New Zealand’s star batter Suzie Bates has etched her name in history as the White Ferns superstar become the first player in the history of women’s cricket to have reached the landmark figures of 1000 runs in T20 World Cups over her career.

With her illustrious milestone, Suzie Bates joins the elite list consisting of Indian talisman Virat Kohli and former Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene who have achieved the same figures in men’s cricket.

Suzie Bates reached this elite milestone in her third outing of the competition against Bangladesh as the batter smashed 81 runs off 61 deliveries to help her side put up a massive 189 runs on the board.

New Zealand are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table and a win here over Bangladesh will keep them alive in the competition.

With Australia winning all their group fixtures so far, Suzie Bates and New Zealand will have to do their best in their final fixture against Sri Lanka and hope that South Africa does not win more than a single game in their remaining fixtures.

Suzie Bates Continues To Be The Leading Run Scorer In Women’s T20 Cricket’

The 37-year-old Suzie Bates has grown even better as she approaches the business stage of her career as she remains glued to the top position of players with runs in the shortest format of the game in women’s cricket.

Ever since making her debut for New Zealand in 2007, Bates has racked up 3764 runs in her 142 outings for her nation. The batter after a couple of poor performances in the opening matches of the T20 World Cup 2023 seems to have finally found her groove and will need to continue with the momentum if New Zealand looks to make it into the knockouts.

Suzie Bates had also registered her name for the recently concluded WPL Auction 2023, which unfortunately saw her find no buyer, which came off as a major surprise considering her stats and stature in women’s T20 cricket.
