Dindigul Dragons have been playing in the TNPL since the inaugural season in 2016. They have won the tournament once while finishing runners-up twice in the first eight seasons.
They performed well in the first season of the TNPL. They qualified for the semifinals after finishing the league stage at the second spot with 5 wins from 7 games. Their journey ended with a defeat to eventual winners Tuti Patriots in the semifinal.
The Dragons failed to replicate their performance in the second season as they failed to progress ahead of the league stage. They exited the competition after finishing at the sixth spot in the points table. They managed to win only 2 of their 7 league games.
In 2018, the Dragons bounced back in style as they finished runners-up. They finished the league stage at the top of the points table. In the playoffs, they beat Madurai Panthers in the first qualifier to storm into the final for the first time. They faced the same side in the final as well but suffered a 7-wicket loss.
The Dragons qualified for the final in 2019 too but once again suffered a heartbreak in the final. For the second season in a row, they finished the league stage at the top of the table. They lost the first qualifier against Chepauk Super Gillies before beating defending champions Madurai Panthers in the second qualifier. In the final, they lost against Super Gillies.
In 2021, the Dragons bowed out of TNPL at the playoffs stage. They made the cut for the playoffs after finishing the league stage at the third spot in the points table. They beat Lyca Kovai Kings in the Eliminator before losing to eventual winners Super Gillies in the second qualifier.
They had a poor campaign in 2022. With just 2 wins from 7 league games, the Dragons finished at the sixth spot and failed to qualify for the playoffs. In 2023, Dragons' campaign ended at the playoffs stage. They finished the league stage at the second spot in the points table with 6 wins from 7 games. They lost both the games in the qualifier.
The Dragons finally won the tournament for the first time in 2024. They beat two-time defending champions Lyca Kovai Kings in the final to clinch their maiden TNPL title.
