Bowlers have increasingly started getting their due in international cricket in the last few years. The ICC World Test Championship was an event where bowlers have had a great say in the tournament. Pat Cummins, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Bout, and Tim Southee are among the highest wicket-takers and have played key roles in wins for their respective teams.
Now, as we await the final, we take a look at the bowlers with the most wickets in international cricket since the last five years. Meanwhile, Ashwin has a chance to finish the WTC campaign as the highest wicket-taker. He is on 67 wickets, four short of overtaking Pat Cummins’ 70 wickets.

8. Jasprit Bumrah- 229
Having made his debut for India in 2016, Jasprit Bumrah has taken 229 international wickets in the meantime. He has risen up the ranks in double quick time and has turned out to be one of the matchwinners for India with the ball.
He has been among the top five bowlers in all formats in the ICC rankings as well. Bumrah will be one of Virat Kohli’s key weapons with the ball in the WTC final.

7. Rashid Khan- 239
Rashid Khan made his ODI debut back in 2015 and in just five years has grown into becoming one of the best bowlers in the world. He has been taking heaps of wickets on the domestic level playing different T20 leagues.
At the international level too he has been making the most of the opportunities. Rashid is currently on number two in the T20I rankings.
6. R Ashwin- 243
At number six among the bowlers with the most wickets is Ravichandran Ashwin. He has been majorly playing Test cricket since 2017 and has been India’s most successful bowler in the meantime.
Since 2016, he has picked up 233 Test wickets. He last played an ODI in the Champions Trophy of 2017 and he picked up 8 ODI wickets that year.
5. Tim Southee- 251
Southee has picked up 51 wickets in the WTC campaign and 251 wickets in international cricket in the last five years. Along with Boult, he has been the pillar in the Kiwi bowling attack.
Both have been playing all three formats in the meantime and have brought a lot of success to the Kiwi team. Since 2017, Southee has picked up 119 Test wickets. In the ODIs, the Kiwi pacer took 55 wickets while in T20Is 53 wickets.
4. Pat Cummins- 251
At number four in this top-bowlers list is Pat Cummins. Cummins has been the most consistent bowler for Australia across formats. Injuries played a part in hampering his career at the start but since the 2015 World Cup, Cummins has been at his best.
Since 2017 when he made comeback to Test cricket, he has picked up 157 wickets, 78 ODI wickets which add up to 235 wickets. The rest he took in the T20Is adding up to 251 wickets in the last five years.

3. Mitchell Starc- 277
Mitchell Starc has a mammoth 277 wickets in the last five years. He along with Cummins are the two most potent strike bowlers in world cricket at the moment. He has only focussed on international cricket at the moment and has given absolutely no heed to franchise T20 cricket. Starc took 161 Test wickets, 21 T20I wickets, and 95 ODI wickets.
2. Kagiso Rabada- 280
Rabada is the second-highest wicket-taker in this bowlers list. He has been South Africa’s go-to bowler in all formats. He has taken 280 wickets in the last five years which is a sizeable amount. Rabada is currently sixth in the ODI rankings and ninth in Test rankings.
1. Trent Boult- 284
He will be featured next in the World Test Championship final against India after making a comeback in the second Test against England.
