The Australian cricket team has unveiled its jersey for the ICC World Cup 2023 jersey. The tournament kicks off on October 5 with England and New Zealand facing off each other in the campaign opener in Ahmedabad. Australia will play their first game against India on October 8 in Chennai.
Ahead of the World Cup game, the two teams face off in a three-match ODI series starting with the first ODI in Mohali on Friday, September 22. Australia won an ODI series 2-1 the last time they played against India in India.
Glenn Maxwell, the Australian all-rounder was seen wearing the kit that incorporates the First Nations design. The colour of the kit is gold which resonates a bit with their past World Cup jerseys and along with this, it features the First Nations design that will appear on all of Australia’s international playing kits.

Maxwell spoke to Cricket.com.au about the jersey saying “It is very typical, of our probably previous couple of World Cup kits. Extremely Australian gold, a nice bit of indigenous design on the side as well. So it looks really good really clean.”

Meanwhile, ahead of the ODI series, Australia will be keen on winning the ODI series against India. As said earlier, they won an ODI series against India earlier this year as well.
Australia will be playing the first ODI in Mohali where they have won four out of the five games they have played against India. Overall in India, out of 67 matches, the Aussies have won 32 games while Team India 30. Five matches ended with no result.
Last-minute injuries to Mitchell Starc and Steve Smith ruled them out of the South Africa series. Smith was recovering from a tendon injury to his left wrist, while Starc was ruled out with groin soreness. All the senior players are now back in the squad with David Warner part of the ODI squad as well. He played in the ODI series against South Africa. Pat Cummins will lead the Aussies.
