T20 World Cup 2021: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah Launches The Trophy With Other Members In Dubai

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah launched the ICC T20 World Cup trophy in Dubai along with several other dignitaries and ICC officials on September 2, Thursday.
H.E.Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan and Khalid Al Zarooni were among the VIP members present. The tournament was shifted to the UAE after an increase in covid-19 cases in India forced BCCI to reconsider.

Since the IPL 2020 was held in UAE without any blemishes, the best spot to shift was always going to be the Arab country. Along with UAE, Oman is also a host but only for the qualifiers which commence on October 17.
Jay Shah shared the pictures from the launch on his official Twitter handle with the caption:
“Launched the @T20WorldCup Trophy with H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Mr Khalid Al Zarooni and @ICC officials in Dubai. The @EmiratesCricket will be home away from home for @BCCI in the upcoming T20 World Cup #Strongertogether.”

India’s T20 World Cup squad to be announced after The Oval Test
BCCI confirmed that the deadline for announcing squads for the upcoming T20 World Cup is September 10. Announcing in the middle of a Test match is impractical so the management decided to confirm the squad after the fourth Test between England and India.

“We are looking at Monday or Tuesday for now, but the date isn’t fixed yet. But it will happen by Friday as 10th is the ICC’s cut-off date,” a source close to the developments told ANI.

India kicks off their quest for an ICC trophy against arch-rivals Pakistan on October 24. They haven’t won an ICC event since defeating England in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy Final.
