T20 World Cup 2021: Medium Pacers Are Not Successful In UAE - Salman Butt On Indian Team Combination

Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt believes Team India should look to play bowlers who can consistently clock the 140 kmph mark or play their strongest spinners, instead of relying on matchups.
Butt was also surprised when the Indian team management went in with medium pacers as they are rarely successful in conditions like Dubai. As seen in the IPL 2021 season, the most successful bowlers had speeds above 135 kmph or spinners functioning at their best.

“India have a good pool of players but in conditions like Dubai, you ought to have people who can bowl 140+. You need to have 2-3 options. Medium pacers are not successful here. You need to have perfect spinners or pacers who can clock 140+ consistently unless they are all-rounders,” Butt said in a video on his YouTube channel.
Only India can explain why they benched Ashwin – Salman Butt
Salman Butt was further confused as to why Ravichandran Ashwin played in the warmups but wasn’t brought into the playing XI for the match against Pakistan. He also questioned the reasoning behind dropping Yuzvendra Chahal, who was the best spinner in the recently concluded IPL season.

“India have quick bowlers but they didn’t select them. And it is not just 140 kmph, it should be quicker as well. Australia have three solid pacers. Afghanistan have three excellent spinners. India have Ashwin and Jadeja. Only India can explain why they did not select Chahal and why they benched Ashwin,” Butt added.
Following the defeat against Pakistan, the Men in Blue will need to pick themselves up before a virtual knockout game against New Zealand on October 31, Sunday.
