Former West Indies skipper Brian Lara was disappointed with the horrible batting performance of the Kieron Pollard-led side in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 match against Eoin Morgan-led England.
The 2-time T20 World Cup winners West Indies was bundled by England at the score of just 55. No batter looked in good touch, and they kept losing back-to-back wickets and were bowled out in the 15th over.
Earlier, Eoin Morgan won the toss, invited West Indies batting to bat first at the Dubai International Stadium and Opener Evin Lewis lost his wicket in the second over.
After that, the West Indies batting unit collapsed like a pack of cards. Chris Gayle top-scored for the side with 13 runs under his belt, and other than him, no batter was able to cross the 10 runs mark.
All the England bowlers looked dominant on that day against West Indies, and every bowler got at least one wicket each. Meanwhile, Moeen Ali and Tymal Mills bagged 2 wickets each. Adding to it, Leg spinner Adil Rashid bowled 2.2 overs, gave 2 runs and was able to pick a 4-wicket haul.
I don’t have words to describe this – Brian Lara On West Indies’ Batting Collapse
Brian Lara, during a Star Sports show covering the match, said he doesn’t have words to describe the batting collapse of the West Indies team. He asserted:
“It was disappointing, it was reckless, I don’t have words to describe this. As a West Indian, I’m very disappointed.”
Meanwhile, chasing the small target, the England openers Jason Roy and Jos Buttler started pretty well. However, Jason Roy was dismissed in the 4th over the inning. After that, England lost wickets in the 5th, 6th and 7th over, but they were able to win the match easily by 6 wickets.
