ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is scheduled to commence on October 17 with the qualifiers stage followed by the Super 12 stage starting on October 23 in Oman and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The International Cricket Council has made an amendment for the knockout stages to make matches flexible in case the game does not go ahead due to unfavourable circumstances.

In case the match gets interrupted by rains, it is usually decided by the Duckworth-Lewis method in most instances.

Each Team to play a minimum of 10 overs to force a result in T20 World Cup knockout games

According to the current set of rules in the shortest format, each side must play at least five overs to get a conclusion and this rule will stand in all qualifiers and Super 12 fixtures with the only amendment to the rule will take place in semi-finals and final.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, each team will have to play a minimum of 10 overs to affect a result in the knockout stages.

India women’s team qualified for 2020 ICC T20 World Cup on better position in group stage

During last year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, India qualified for the final after rain showers did not allow their semi-final match against England to take place. India were awarded the berth on the virtue of being the table topper of  Group A.

There was a lot of dismay on this rule as England lost the opportunity to mark their position in the final as they had defeated India in the semi-final of the 2018 T20 World Cup.

Many fans also trolled England for perfect revenge after their men’s team won the 2019 World Cup on the boundary count rule (which does not exist anymore) after the scores were levelled twice in the final match between England and New Zealand in Lord’s.

South Africa and Australia will kick off the Super 12 proceeding with their match slated on October 23 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
