T20 World Cup 2021: Yuzvendra Chahal & Harshal Patel Should Be In The World Cup Squad - Madan Lal
Former Indian cricketer Madan Lal has raised questions over why leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, isn’t part of India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He also brought up the possibility of bringing in Harshal Patel, who is currently in the form of his life.
Despite picking five spinners for the T20 World Cup in UAE, Chahal wasn’t selected. Instead, the selectors decided to move on to young blood, Rahul Chahar. He was impressive in India’s tour of Sri Lanka earlier this July. However, Chahal has since outperformed Chahar, especially in the second leg of the IPL 2021 season.
“I am still unable to understand why Chahal was not picked at first. He has been performing well and is our best spinner. He did well in the past and also in the ongoing IPL. I was a bit shocked when I got to know about Chahal being ignored,” Madan was quoted as saying to IANS.
“Harshal should be included as well” – Madan Lal
Madan further suggested that Harshal Patel should be given a chance considering how well he has performed for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Harshal has so far picked up 30 wickets in 14 matches and has held on to the purple cap since Match 1.
“The second is Harshal Patel. He should be included in the team as well. Whom the selectors will replace in the team that will be their call. They should make a balance accordingly which will help the team in the tournament. But my suggestion is these two players, Chahal and Patel, must get included,” Madan said.
The deadline for the final submission of the 15-man squad along with reserves is October 10, Sunday. A BCCI official had hinted that there were won’t be any last-minute changes to the team.
