Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup with a freak injury. The injury could have been avoided as per reports across media outlets. Jadeja coped up with the injury midway through the Asia Cup and he was ruled out of the Asia Cup as well.
According to TOI, some BCCI officials are already upset over how the injury occurred. Although no official inquiries have been made as of yet, individuals in the know claim that a comprehensive explanation will eventually be required because the all-rounder is a big loss ahead of the T20 World Cup.
“He had to balance himself on some kind of a ski-board as part of an adventure activity – not part of the training manual at all. It was absolutely unnecessary. He slipped and twisted his knee badly, which led to surgery,” TOI was informed by sources familiar with the situation.
Meanwhile, India was eliminated from the Asia Cup after losing their Super 4 games against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Jadeja bowled a couple of overs against Pakistan in India’s first game of the campaign and scored 35 runs off 29 batting at number four.
Ravindra Jadeja has recently completed a successful surgery and will miss the upcoming series against South Africa and Australia along with the T20 World Cup. In this article, we take a look at three Indian players who can replace Jadeja in the Indian Squad for the T20 World Cup in Australia.
3 Indian Players Who Can Replace Ravindra Jadeja In India Squad For T20 World Cup
Axar Patel
With his all-round abilities, Axar Patel should be the first-choice replacement for Jadeja in the XI. He has shown good form with both bat and ball whenever he has been given a chance.
He scored 64 in the second ODI against West Indies to win the game for India. The left-arm spinner has been a regular member of the Indian white-ball squads in the last couple of years and with Jadeja ruled out, he has a serious chance of making it to the T20 World Cup squad now.

Deepak Hooda
Hooda is another option to replace Jadeja. He has done well enough in the limited opportunities that he has been presented with. Hooda also scored his maiden T20I ton and looked good in that innings against Ireland.
With the selectors looking for a like-for-like replacement for Jadeja, Hooda’s name can be thrown into the mix. He is good enough to bat anywhere in the top six and can chip in with a few overs. His big-hitting prowess is a big positive from his game.
R Ashwin
Ashwin might not be as effective with the bat but can certainly fill in for Jadeja with the ball. He is among the very few Indian cricketers who have played over 50 matches across three formats. Ashwin was included in India’s Asia Cup squad but played only one match against Sri Lanka picking up one wicket. His experience as a spinner will be invaluable in Australian conditions where he has had rich success as a Test bowler.
