3 Players Who Were Not Selected In India’s T20 World Cup Squad Because Of Poor Performance In Asia Cup 2022
Avesh Khan

Avesh was one of three pacers originally picked in India’s Asia Cup squad. However, after the first two games, he fell ill and did not play any of the super 4 games for India. His untimely illness meant that India played with just two regular seamers for the majority of the Asia Cup. As it turned out, there was extra pressure on both the seamers to perform and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with all his experience conceded costly runs in the 19th overs against Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The losses meant India faced a Super 4 exit from the tournament.
Ravi Bishnoi

More than poor form, Bishnoi missed out from India’s main T20 World Cup squad due to the team combination. The absence of Ravindra Jadeja meant that India had to have Axar Patel in the squad. Ashwin made it to the side as the specialist off-spinner and Chahal the specialist leg spinner. Bishnoi played the game against Pakistan in the Asia Cup and took 1 for 27. He did not make it to the XI in the rest of the games due to the team combination.
Deepak Chahar

Chahar made a comeback to the Indian cricket team after a long injury layoff. He suffered a lower back injury which ruled him out of the IPL 2022 and every other international series till he was fit in the Asia Cup. He played the last Super 4 game against Afghanistan in which he went wicketless. The management felt that he is not yet fully fit which is why he is in the reserves for the T20 World Cup.
