The cricketing world was shocked when the news of Shane Warne’s death broke earlier this year. Like other spinners, Rashid Khan looked up to Warne and couldn’t resist sharing his memories with him. The King of Spin died of a heart attack in March 2021 while on vacation on Koh Samui island.

Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan stated that it was a “huge honor” for him to spend some time with the legendary Shane Warne and also shared some of his bowling secrets in a video released by the ICC while bowling in the nets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

“It is not just about coming in and playing the games it is more about outside how you manage things how you keep the team how you keep the players and you share the experience from all around the world that makes me happier than winning” he explained.

Rashid also discussed how he added slower balls to his arsenal as hitters got used to his faster ones and how he improved his skills in the trade after his session with Warne. He called it “Slow Shane Warn Leggy”.

Afghanistan lost their opening game in the World Cup against England by five wickets. Despite putting in an average total of 112 runs in the first innings, the Afghans took the game forward till the 19th over. Rashid Khan took one wicket, conceding just 17 runs in the game.

The Afghans have been unlucky in this tournament as the last two games against New Zealand and Ireland were washed out due to rain. The team may have received two points after the game was abandoned, but they do not have enough run rate.
