On Sunday, October 30, all 6 teams of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 Group 2 were in action. Bangladesh went head-to-head with Zimbabwe in the first match of the day while Pakistan locked horns with the Netherlands and South Africa faced India in the next two games.
The Shakib Al Hasan-led Bangladesh National Cricket Team defeated the Craig Ervine-led Zimbabwe National Cricket Team by 3 runs at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, Woolloongabba, Brisbane, to register their second win in the ongoing World Cup.

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team registered a comprehensive 6-wicket win over the Scott Edwards-led Netherlands National Cricket Team to win their first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
Meanwhile, the Temba Bavuma-led South Africa National Cricket Team defeated Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team by 5 wickets to win their second game of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 and become the top-ranked team on the Group 2 points table. This was the first time the Proteas defeated India in an ICC event since beating them in Nagpur in ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
After the results of today’s games, the Proteas are in a strong position to qualify for the semi-finals and the Men In Blue are still in a good position, but they can’t afford any more slip-ups. However, the chances of Pakistan qualifying for the semi-finals are very slim.
How Can India and Pakistan Qualify For Semi-finals?
The Men In Blue and the Men In Green can still qualify for the semi-finals, but the destiny of the former are in their hands own hands, which is not the case for the Babar Azam and Co.
The Rohit Sharma-led side will have to win their remaining matches against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe on November 2 and November 6 to make it to the semi-finals. If India want to finish as the table-toppers, they would want South Africa to lose one of their remaining 2 games against Pakistan or the Netherlands. Also, a washout game of the Proteas can help the Men In Blue achieve the top spot on the basis of Net Run Rate.
Talking about the highly complicated scenarios of Team Pakistan, first of all, Babar Azam and Co. will have to make sure they win their upcoming games against South Africa and Bangladesh. Then, they will hope that the Men In Blue lose both their games or the Proteas face a defeat against the Netherlands.
The Babar Azam and Co. can also finish in the second position if they have a better Net Run Rate than India and the Men In Blue lose one game. If the match between South Africa and the Netherlands gets washed out, Pakistan can still qualify for the knockouts if they have a great NRR. Meanwhile, if Zimbabwe defeat India, they could pip Babar Azam and Co. on the points table.
