The first Test begins at Roseau on July 12 and pits the Kraigg Brathwaite-captained team against a powerful Indian squad.

Cricket West Indies announced the duo’s departure from Zimbabwe on Twitter, writing: “Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph will depart early from the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers. West Indies haven’t named their squads for the series against India:

West Indies’ chances of making it to the ODI World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November, were destroyed after they lost to Scotland in a Super Six match in the qualifying competition in Harare on July 1. Indies, the winner of the first two tournaments in 1975 and 1979, had little hope of qualifying after losses to Zimbabwe and the Netherlands in the group rounds. The ODI World Cup without them will be the first ever.

On July 5 and July 7, respectively, they still have games against Oman, who is also out of the running for qualification, and Sri Lanka, who is already qualified.

Jason Holder and Joseph are anticipated to play significant roles in the West Indies lineups, which have not yet been announced for the series against India. Holder contributed with both the bat and the ball during the Zimbabwe competition, scoring 144 runs from five innings at an average of 36 and taking six wickets at a 35.33 average. Meanwhile, Joseph has been their most effective bowler, taking eight wickets in his first five matches at an average of 32.11.
