Former India captain and chief selector, Dilip Vengsarkar, has said that the former India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli, who has been struggling for runs in recent times, will come back strong in the one-off Test against England.
The 5th and last Test match of the series between India and England, which was cancelled last year, will be played at the Edgbaston, Birmingham from Friday, July 1. Also, India have a 2-1 lead in the Test series.

Kohli was the captain of India when they dominated against England in the Test series last year and now it will be up to captain Rohit Sharma to help India secure the series victory.

Meanwhile, Vengsarkar has said that he is expecting Kohli and Rohit to fire with the bat in England series.
“I am sure because he (Kohli) is a world-class player. He’s done well and is so fit. He is just not scoring in the T20s but I think he’ll come back strong, especially in the Test in England. He and Rohit Sharma, I expect big runs in England,” said Vengsarkar.
He must have worked very hard on his fitness – Dilip Vengsarkar on Hardik Pandya

Vengsarkar applauded Hardik Pandya, who led Gujarat Titans to the IPL 2022 triumph in his debut season as a skipper, for his strong comeback from injury.
“The way he (Hardik) came back from injury is great. He must have worked very hard on his fitness. He did very well in the IPL and as a captain, he did well. (He is a) very fine all-rounder.”
“He led from the front. He guided the team in his first major tournament as captain (of Gujarat Titans). An all-rounder plays an important role in any team,” he said.
Vengsarkar further said that the right-arm express pacer Umran Malik, who possesses the ability to bowl the deliveries consistently at over 150kmph, should be in India’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 squad.
“I hope so because he (Umran) is a very exciting talent. He did well in the IPL and he deserves a chance as he looked the best bowler in the format. I hope he is on the plane and I am sure he will do well if given an opportunity,” Vengsarkar told reporters on Saturday.
“He (Umran) is young and raring to go. You must give an opportunity to someone who is in form. He is young, keen to play and hungry for success,” added the former national chairman of selectors.
