IND vs ENG: Jasprit Bumrah Becomes 6th Indian To Bag 100 Test Wickets In SENA, Joins Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble In Elite List

India National Cricket Team captain and premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, has become only the 6th player from the Indian team to pick 100 Test wickets in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia).

Jasprit Bumrah achieved this major milestone in the 5th and last Test match of the series against Ben Stokes-led England, which was cancelled last year due to the Covid-19 scare in the Indian camp, at the Edgbaston, Birmingham on Day 4 of the match on July 4.

India captain Bumrah came back into the attack in the 22nd over and after bowling a couple of dot balls to Zak Crawley he managed to castle the batter on the 4th ball of his over to break the 107-run opening stand between Crawley and Alex Lees.

With the dismissal of Crawley, he reached the 100-wicket milestone in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia). Also, he soon dismissed Ollie Pope for a duck on the 1st ball of the 24th over.

Jasprit Bumrah has become just the sixth Indian to complete 100 Test wickets in SENA countries. Other Indian bowlers who have achieved this sensational landmark are; Anil Kumble (141), Ishant Sharma (130), Zaheer Khan (119), Mohammed Shami (119), and Kapil Dev (117).

Amongst the SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia), Bumrah has picked the most wickets in England with 37 wickets under his belt in 9 games at an average of 25.43, an economy of 2.68 and a strike rate of 56.9.

In Australia, he has played 7 Tests and has bagged 32 wickets at an average of 21.25, an economy of 2.47 and a strike rate of 51.5. In South Africa, the star pacer has played 6 games and has picked 26 wickets at an average of 24.38, an economy of 2.92 and a strike rate of 50.0. In New Zealand, he has played 2 games and bagged 6 wickets at an average of, 31.66, an economy of 3.08 and a strike rate of 61.6

Also, Bumrah is the Indian bowler with most Test wickets in the first 30 games as he broke the record of Kapil Dev, who scalped 124 wickets in his first 30 games.
