India will be playing Ireland for a two-match T20I series in June after the Test and white-ball series against England. The two matches will be played on June 26 and 28 and if reports are to be believed, former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman will be coaching the side for the series.

All the senior players of the Indian cricket team will be in England during that time as they will be playing a complete series against England. The BCCI is likely to choose a young squad for the series. Reports in Inside Sport suggest that Hardik Pandya will be leading the Indian side in that series.

Leading Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022, he has taken them to the finals on their debut season. The selectors have a wide range of players to choose from and are likely to announce a 15 to 18-member squad shortly. In this article, we try and predict the Indian squad that might be announced for the two-match series against Ireland.

Openers – Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Ruturaj Gaikwad

Shikhar Dhawan who was not included in the Indian squad announced for the South Africa series might be back in contention against Ireland. Given that the selectors are likely to announce a young squad, the experience of Dhawan at the top will be an asset for the side. Kishan and Gaikwad can be the other opening options. Kishan can also don the gloves for the two games.

Barring Hooda, none of the other above-mentioned players were selected for the South Africa series. While the selectors were criticised for not considering Tripathi and Samson, Nitish Rana put out a cryptic tweet on his omission from the squad. All of them had fairly good IPL season by their own standards.

All-Rounders – Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya

While Hardik Pandya is primed to lead India in the series, his elder brother Krunal can be given an opportunity in the series. Both have been consistent players in the IPL for some time now and have also represented India. The two-match series against Ireland can be a nice opportunity for someone like Krunal to make a case for his T20 World Cup selection.

Spinners: Varun Chakravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harpreet Brar, Rahul Chahar

The selectors can include the above-mentioned spinners in the squad. While Varun last played for India in the T20 World Cup last year, Bishnoi will be playing against South Africa and Brar is yet to make his debut for India. Rahul Chahar can be another good option to be named in the squad. This Indian spin attack has a lot of potential and can pose a threat to Ireland.

Pacers – T Natarajan, Umran Malik, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna

Avesh and Umran have been named in the T20I squad against SA. They can be named in the T20I squad against Ireland as well. Two other names can be Natarajan and Prasidh Krishna. Krishna will be in England for the series and can switch over easily for the series.
