IND vs IRE: India’s Predicted Playing XI Against Ireland, 2nd T20I

India goes head to head against Ireland in the second T20I in Dublin on Thursday, June 28. The visitors won the first T20I and are now looking to complete a whitewash against the Irish side. The Indian team will then take on England in a full-fledged series starting with the one-off Test in Edgbaston.

India won the first ODI comfortably by seven wickets with Deepak Hooda scoring an unbeaten 47 to take his side home. Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan also contributed. Umran Malik was given his maiden T20I cap but bowled only one over.

The series is being seen as experimentation with players looking to make a case for their T20 World Cup selection in the Indian squad. The second T20I gives the management another opportunity to test its bench strength.

The likes of Arshdeep Singh and Rahul Tripathi are all waiting to make their debut for India and this game is a great opportunity to do so. In this article, we predict India’s playing XI for the second IND vs IRE T20I.

Ruturaj Gaikwad injured his calf just before India’s chase which saw him miss out on the opportunity to bat. His injury makes a perfect case for Rahul Tripathi to be given his maiden T20I cap and allow him to open the batting.

Ishan Kishan

Kishan has been consistently scoring runs since the South Africa series. He will be the other opener alongside Tripathi for the second game.

Suryakumar Yadav

SKY was dismissed for a duck in the first T20I and would like to make up for it in the second game. He mas made a comeback into the Indian team after missing out from the South Africa series due to injury.

Hardik Pandya

The Indian skipper batted at number four and scored 24 runs in the first T20I. He should bat again at number four. Pandya also became the first Indian T20I skipper to take a wicket in the last game.

Deepak Hooda

Opening the batting Hooda scored an unbeaten 47 to take his side home. With the injury to Gaikwad, it will be interesting to see if he is persisted with as an opener or is batted down the order.

Karthik slots in at number six in the batting line-up. He scored five off four balls and hit the winning runs for India in the first T20I. He was also preferred over Sanju Samson.

Axar Patel / Arshdeep Singh

Patel slots in at number seven in India’s playing XI. He was used for just one over in which he went for 12 runs. Given the conditions are ideal for seam and swing bowling, Arshdeep Singh can be preferred over the left-arm spinner in the second T20I.

Bhuvi can at number eighth for India. He picked up the early wicket of Andrew Balbirnie to give India the edge in the game. He bowled three overs for 16 runs in the game.

Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan is fresh off a good series against South Africa. In the first T20I, he bowled 2 overs for 22 runs and picked up a wicket. He will be looking for better performance in the second T20I.

Umran Malik

Malik bowled just one over on his T20I debut for India. Skipper Hardik Pandya spoke about making him bowl his full quota of overs in the second T20I. His pace was on show in the first game making the Irish batsmen uncomfortable.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal will be India’s specialist spinner in the second T20I against Ireland. He bowled three overs for 11 in the first game. This completes India’s predicted playing XI for the second T20I
