India is on a short trip to Ireland for two T20Is before heading to England for a full-fledged series. The two T20Is will be played at The Village ground in Dublin on June 26 and 28. This is the Men in Blues’ second trip to Ireland after their first in 2018.
India will be led by Hardik Pandya while Andrew Balbirnie will lead the Irish side. Both the teams shave announced their squads. While BCCI has announced a 17-member squad, Cricket Ireland has named a 14-member squad. The Irish skipper spoke about the series as a big opportunity to rub shoulders with the best of Indian T20 players who are fresh from an IPL season.

“It’s a huge occasion for us. They have such a number of experienced players in T20 format. They have a squad in England for the Test match and then there’s a squad that’s coming down to Ireland to play us in T20s. They are all looking to impress” said Balbirnie to TOI.

India and Ireland have played three T20Is in the past with India winning all the games. The two teams first met in the 2009 T20 World Cup. Nine years later in 2018, India won 2-0 and here they are again for another series. The Indian team management has a chance to try out various permutations and combinations as they try to seek a proper playing combination.
