IND vs SA: 'He Batted Extremely Well'– Kagiso Rabada On Virat Kohli's Performance On Day 1 Of The Cape Town Test

South Africa ace pacer Kagiso Rabada has lauded the Indian red-ball captain Virat Kohli for his excellent performance on Day 1 of the 3rd Test between India and South Africa at the Newlands, Cape Town.

Kohli was making a comeback in the final Test of the 3-match Test series against South Africa after getting ruled out of the 2nd Test and he batted extremely well against the Proteas pace battery. India kept losing wickets from one end but Kohli who is playing his 99th Test stood strong and scored 79 runs off 201 balls.

Also, the Indian Test captain had a very good battle with pacer Rabada. Kohli faced 55 deliveries against the star Proteas pacer and scored 24 runs. However, Rabada had the last laugh as he was able to dismiss Kohli and playing in his 50th Test, Rabada picked 4 wickets for 73 runs in the first innings.

After Day 1, Rabada while talking about Virat Kohli said that “he batted extremely well”. Proteas speedster also said that the plan was to bowl a good line and length to the Indian captain. He stated:

The plan was to bowl a good line and length. It was pretty obvious to try to swing away as he was going out that way. He was very patient at leaving the ball. He batted extremely well, well done to him”

Rabada also lauded the Proteas left-arm pacer Marco Jansen who bagged 3 wickets on Day 1 of the 3rd Test against India. He said:

“He’s got a burning desire to play here. He’s got the x-factor. He’s got a tough character, that’s the first thing you look for in a cricketer. The natural talent is there and he has the ability to win matches. He’s an exciting prospect for South Africa.”

At Stumps on Day 1 South Africa were at 17/1 and they were trailing by 206 runs with Aiden Markram and Keshav Maharaj on the crease.
