Massive development in Indian cricket took place in the last couple of days when Rohit Sharma was appointed as the new ODI skipper. The first assignment for Rohit Sharma as the full-time Indian ODI captain will be the ODI series against South Africa and thus we take a look at the 15-member Predicted squad which might travel to South Africa for the ODI series.

IND vs SA ODI Squad 2021 (Predicted)
Rohit Sharma (c)

The newly-appointed skipper of the Indian ODI team, Rohit Sharma, will travel alongside his men for the tour as this will be his first assignment as the full-time Indian ODI skipper. Rohit has been exceptional with the bat in white-ball cricket over the last decade and he will surely be one of India’s crucial members if they aim for a series win in the challenging South African conditions.
KL Rahul (vc)

Now that Rohit Sharma has been appointed the captain of the Men in Blue, KL Rahul seems an obvious choice for the vice-captaincy role. If media reports are to be believed, Rahul will be taking on the responsibility from the South African tour only. The flamboyant Indian opener has had a memorable run in international cricket in the last couple of years and he will look to carry on in a similar fashion against the Proteas.
Virat Kohli

Dropping the responsibilities from his shoulders, Virat Kohli will now be a free man, raring to go out on the field and silence his critics as he has done with the bat over the last decade for the Men in Blue in international cricket. The wait for his 71st international century has long been harboured by the fans and Virat himself and this might go on to prove a tour for the former India white-ball captain where he can achieve the feat.
Shreyas Iyer

Losing out his place in the Indian team due to an injury he suffered earlier in the series against England, Shreyas Iyer will be raring to go on the field in the ODI series against the Proteas. The Man from Mumbai made a scintillating Test debut against the Kiwis earlier this month and was awarded the Man of the Match in his maiden Test appearance. He has been a rock-solid batsman for India at number 4 in limited-overs cricket and this tour will certainly help him cement his place back in the side as a regular.
Rishabh Pant

The X Factor of the Indian Cricket Team as quoted by many, Rishabh Pant, will once again be in the starting XI against South Africa as the Men in Blue look to get on solid wins ahead of the 2023 ODI World Cup. Pant has made a wonderful comeback in all three formats of the game for the Indian cricket team in the last year and the team will look to capitalize from his form on the tour of South Africa.
Venkatesh Iyer

Replacing Hardik Pandya in the blues hasn’t been an ideal cup of tea for a lot of people in the last 3-4 years. However, the year 2021 has been that of another fast-bowling all-rounder, Venkatesh Iyer, who has gone on to become one of the greatest assets in Indian cricket. He will certainly be in the fray when selectors look to shape a team for the tour and for the upcoming tournaments as far as limited-overs cricket is concerned.
Shardul Thakur

One of the breakout performers for team India across all formats in the last couple of years has been Shardul Thakur. His ability to pick wickets at regular intervals in the middle and death overs will once again be vital for the Men in Blue as they eye a series win in South Africa and the selectors will certainly add Lord Thakur to the squad because of his batting prowess.
Harshal Patel

IPL 2021 proved to be the silver lining for Harshal Patel as he ended the season as the Purple Cap holder and also broke Dwayne Bravo’s record for the most wickets in a single season of IPL. Harshal’s ability to contribute with the bat will help him a great deal in getting a spot in the Indian squad for the South Africa tour and if he manages to pick crucial wickets, he might seal his spot for the 2023 ODI World Cup as well.
Yuzvendra Chahal

One of the most surprising exclusions from the Indian T20 World Cup squad this year was that of Indian leggie Yuzvendra Chahal. The spin wizard from Haryana has been India’s best leg-spinner in the international circuit in the last 5 years and once again, he will be raring to prove a point to the selectors and thus, his place in the Indian side is imminent.
??Mohammed Shami

One of India’s unsung heroes in the 2019 ODI World Cup, Mohammed Shami, will once again be in the fray as the selectors meet for the squad selection of the ODI team for the South African tour. The veteran has now picked close to 150 wickets in the ODI format in international cricket at an average of 25.63.
Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah has been India’s most sought after pace spearhead ever since making his debut for the senior team. The pacer has picked the most wickets for team India in international cricket since his debut and his role in the South African tour will be nothing different. Bowling tight line and lengths not only help him get wickets at regular intervals but assist his teammates in chipping wickets too.
Ruturaj Gaikwad

One of the brightest prospects in Indian cricket, Ruturaj Gaikwad, will once again be a definite choice for the selection committee looking at his performance throughout the year. The young batsman from Maharashtra portrayed his brilliance in the IPL this year ending the campaign as the highest run-scorer. He was exceptional with the bat in SMAT 2021 and two centuries in the first two opening games of the Vijay Hazare Trophy just define his class.
Ishan Kishan

Another promising talent who has raised his hand up every time the Indian Cricket Team has been in struggle this year has been Ishan Kishan. The pocket-sized dynamo from Jharkhand has been a magnificent addition to the Indian limited-overs side as he went on to score half-centuries on his T20I and ODI debut. His wicketkeeping skills act as a massive boon and he will once again be in consideration for the South Africa tour.
Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin’s stature in Indian cricket has gone on to become legendary in the last couple of years. The veteran was expelled from the limited-overs team after a poor run in the 2017 Champions Trophy and now, he has made a scintillating comeback in the limited-overs side due to his performance in the IPL. Rohit Sharma has already stated that Ashwin is here to stay and the team might try him on the tour of South Africa.
Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar has time and again proved his quality in the international circuit and in the IPL that he deserves a spot in the Indian team on a regular basis. The swing bowler can put his skills to use in aiding South African conditions and help India pick wickets early in the innings, a role that Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been perfecting for India in the last decade. He can bat decently too and thus, he is all but certain to find a place in the Indian squad.
