Just In: Rohit Sharma Misses Out, KL Rahul Named Captain As BCCI Announces 18-Men Squad For South Africa ODIs

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s One Day Internationals (ODI) squad for the upcoming three-match series against South Africa.
Rohit Sharma who was recently appointed as India’s new One Day Internationals (ODI) will not participate in the One Day Internationals series against South Africa and KL Rahul will be leading the Indian team in the series.

While announcing India’s squad, Chairman of selectors Chetan Sharma said that white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma who suffered a hamstring injury ahead of the Test series against South Africa is not fully fit and he is working on his fitness, hence he will miss the ODI series in South Africa. Also, it was told that star pacer Jasprit Bumrah will be the deputy of KL Rahul in the series.

All the notable names have been included in India’s squad, however, Senior pacer Mohammed Shami has been rested for the series and all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel have not recovered from their injuries.
Also, Venkatesh Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been included in the squad after their terrific run in the IPL and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Meanwhile, spinners Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar have made a comeback to the team.
Meanwhile, India and South Africa will play a three-match One Day Internationals (ODI) series which will begin from January 19, 2022, at Boland Park, Paarl. The second One Day Internationals will be played at Boland Park, Paarl on January 21, 2022, and the third and final One Day Internationals will be played on January 23, 2022, at the Newlands, Cape Town
