India’s premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has received an injury scare after he twisted his ankle while bowling in the first Test against South Africa at Centurion.

Bumrah delivered the ball and just in his follow-through, twisted his ankle on the side of the wicket. The speedster couldn’t complete his over and had to be taken off the field after receiving some treatment from the physio. Mohammed Siraj had to complete the final delivery of his over.

India can say that they have made a strong comeback into the Test after having lost the opening hour of play on Day 3 to South Africa. India were 272/3 overnight but they just kept on losing wickets at regular intervals right from start of play at Day 3. KL Rahul edged one behind to Quinton de Kock to end what was a wonderful innings.

Ajinkya Rahane couldn’t quite convert his start into a big score as he too edged one behind the De Kock. From there, a procession of wickets started to fall for India and despite some resistance from Jasprit Bumrah, the visitors lost their last 7 wickets in the morning for just 55 runs.

India needed a good start from their bowlers and Jasprit Bumrah provided exactly that, producing the outside edge of Dean Elgar to send him packing. Mohammed Shami cleaned up both Keegan Peterson and Aiden Markram to put South Africa into deep trouble.

Siraj came in to bowl for the injured Jasprit Bumrah and hasn’t let the Proteas batsmen settle. After picking up the wicket of Rassie van der Dussen, he almost picked up Quinton de Kock off the very next ball. India are firmly on top of South Africa and the hosts will need to bat out of their skins to stage a comeback in this Test.
