India take on Zimbabwe in the second ODI in Harare on Saturday, August 20. The visitors won the first ODI by 10 wickets and are leading the series 1-0. Winning the second ODI would ensure another series win against Zimbabwe.

KL Rahul is leading India in the series with Shikhar Dhawan as his deputy. Dhawan and Shubman Gill opened the batting in the first ODI and chased down 190 to win with 20 overs to spare. Rahul as skipper was elated with this win and complimented Deepak Chahar especially for giving India a great start to this game.

“There was a bit of swing and seam movement as well, but it was good to see the bowlers stay disciplined and pick up those wickets. For a few of us, it is great to be back in the Indian dressing room. As a team we have been in good form, good to see that all of us are getting enough game time. Feels good to be out there” said Rahul.

There was plenty of talk regarding Rahul not opening the batting in the first ODI. There was also talk about India playing with three keepers in the lineup ad hence denying Rahul Tripathi a chance to make his international debut.

It will be interesting to see if India makes any changes to the playing XI or goes with the same lineup. Meanwhile, in this article, we take a look at India’s predicted playing Xi in the second ODI.

Hooda played the first ODI but did not get his chance with the bat. He should retain his place in the side given that he can bowl off-spin as well along with his ability to make anywhere in the top six.

Sanju Samson (WK)
