Legendary India National Cricket Team and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, MS Dhoni, has accomplished the 6000 runs milestone in T20 cricket as a captain and he has joined former India National Cricket Team and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain, Virat Kohli, in the elite list.
Dhoni completed the 6000 runs as a T20 captain in the 55th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 against Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) on Sunday, May 8 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai.
Overall, the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni has scored over 7000 runs in T20 cricket at an average of 35+ and a strike rate of 130+. Also, he has smashed 28 half-centuries in the shorter format of the game.
MS Dhoni Becomes Only Second T20 Captain To Score 6000 Runs
Former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli was the first captain in the history of T20 cricket to smash 6000 runs in the shorter format of the game and now he has been joined by legendary wicketkeeper-batsman Dhoni in the unique list.
Ahead of the clash against Delhi Capitals the legendary skipper Dhoni needed only four runs to join former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Kohli in the elite list.
The 40-year-old Dhoni came to bat in the 18th over of the match against DC after the dismissal of batting all-rounder Shivam Dube. On one end the wickets were falling at regular intervals but Dhoni stood strong on the other end and smashed 21 runs off 8 balls, including 1 four and 2 sixes to help post Chennai Super Kings post 208/6 on the board.
Also, Dhoni just needs 91 runs to enter the 5000 runs club in the Indian Premier League as Dhoni currently has 4909 runs under his belt in the cash-rich league.
If Dhoni manages to score 91 runs in the upcoming games he will join Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, David Warner, Suresh Raina and AB de Villiers in the special list.
