Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer provided the much-needed breakthrough by running out Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder, Axar Patel, during their game at the Wankhede Stadium on Thursday.
Chasing 147, DC lost Prithvi Shaw on the first ball before David Warner kept them afloat. The Aussie opener smashed his way to a 26-ball 42 before falling to Umesh Yadav, KKR’s best bowler on the night.
Soon after, DC lost two more wickets and Axar walked in to accompany Rovman Powell at the other end. Axar played well to inject some momentum before he was run out by an excellent throw from Iyer.
Powell had just tapped the ball onto the leg side and called for two but there never was a second. Iyer swooped in and threw a flat throw and Venkatesh Iyer did the rest of the work at the bowler’s end.
