Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Ishan Kishan blazed his way to 81 in the second game of the IPL 2022 season between MI and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
DC opted to bowl first on what has been a good surface to bat on so far. Kishan and Rohit Sharma made the most of it and stitched a 67-run association for the first wicket.
They utilised the powerplay well before Rohit fell to Kuldeep Yadav. Anmolpreet Singh and Tilak Varma played brief knocks while Kishan stood firm at the other end, watching his partners fall.
Eventually, he took control of the innings and began playing his shots. He was the most expensive buy in the mega auction meaning the southpaw has a lot to prove in this season. There are also Indian team slots on the line for this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
He has started off well with his 48-ball 81, that included 11 fours and two massive sixes. On the back of his knock, MI put up 177/5 on the board in the first innings. Although it is not a tough ask, DC will need to start well.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Ishan Kishan’s knock:
