Gujarat Titans all-rounder Vijay Shankar opened up about his return to the Indian team. He said that he’s not mentally thinking about it and has no expectations as he just wants to enjoy cricket currently.

Vijay Shankar has been a revelation with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The all-rounder has played two great knocks in the league so far that ensured his side was in a comfortable position in both games.

Shankar first played a great knock of an unbeaten 63 off just 24 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Ahmedabad that powered GT to a total of 204 runs. If this was not enough, he made his side win in the reverse fixture against KKR.

Vijay Shankar played a staggering knock in the chase and made sure that he took his side home. The all-rounder blasted 24-ball 51 runs in a pressure situation and helped his side win the game by 7 wickets and go to the top of the table.

Vijay Shankar said that the only satisfaction for him is to make his team win and is currently not thinking about making a return to the Indian side. He explained:

“It’s too far for me. Mentally I’m really not thinking about that. If I can win matches for my team that’s the only satisfaction I can take from every game. I’ll be really happy to contribute to my team’s wins. Cricket is something we love, that’s why we still continue playing. No expectations, I just wanted to enjoy my cricket.”

Vijay Shankar notably was part of the Indian squad for the ODI World Cup 2019. However, he didn’t live up to the expectations and was never recalled to the Indian side after that.
