GT vs RR: Sanju Samson Has Been The Most Influential Captain In IPL 2022 – Parthiv Patel

Former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel lavished praise on Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson for his tranquil mindset in leading the team in the IPL 2022 league stage.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) won nine out of 14 games to finish second on the table with 18 points with +0.298 NRR. As the IPL 2022 approaches the business end, Royals will take on table-toppers Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 1 on Tuesday (May 24).

Samson has had a decent season with the bat in IPL 2022 thus far, amassing 374 runs at 28.77 and a strike rate of 147.24. However, Parthiv is impressed with the improvement in Samson’s leadership and decision-making abilities.

“Samson has been the most influential captain in IPL 2022. He has looked calm this season, there was a lot of surety in his decision-making. Samson has improved a lot when it comes to his captaincy,” Parthiv told Cricbuzz.

Rajasthan Royals pace bowler Trent Boult has been quite impactful with the new ball in the early overs although he went for runs in the last game against Moeen Ali. But overall the New Zealand pacer has picked 13 scalps in as many games at an economy rate of 8.24.

Parthiv believes Boult will make the most advantage from the Eden Gardens pitch with the movement of the ball. The former Indian player also wants Rajasthan to go unchanged with their playing XI in Qualifier 1.

“Boult will be very happy with the pitch being under covers. Even if the pitch is not damp, the weather will be humid, and that will favor swing. He will hope that it does not rain too much, but the weather remains humid,” Parthiv said.

“I don’t any change is required for RR. Jaiswal is batting really well since making his way back into the playing XI. The batting looks deeper now, Ashwin is also playing well, which is a plus point for them.

“The bowling is also well-rounded. If there is something in the wicket, then Kuldeep Sen could be considered, otherwise don’t see any change,” he added.

The winner of the Qualifier 1 will sail into the IPL 2022 final while the loser will get another chance to secure a spot in the marquee clash through Qualifier 2.
