3 Big Players Who Won’t Be Retained By Chennai Super Kings:
Suresh Raina:
Suresh Raina is popularly called the Mr. IPL for his consistency levels in the tournament in the first ten editions. He was always among the runs every season for the CSK side and played a big role in the success of CSK. He did not play the previous IPL edition and Chennai Super Kings for the first time ended up missing out on the playoffs.
Raina did make a comeback this year but he did not make any justice to the reputation he has earned in the tournament and the left-hander looked like he doesn’t have his old flair. He was injured in the last few games and with a lot of performers in the franchise, CSK will not be able to retain him.
Faf Du Plessis:
Faf Du Plessis had an excellent IPL in the previous season as he finished second in the race for the orange cap and showed his class with the bat. He has always been one of the consistent performers for CSK and has had a big impact on the franchise over the years.
Du Plessis was retained through the RTM card in the previous IPL but it might not be the case again as CSK will have the option of retaining just one overseas player. CSK has looked out for all-rounders and hence Du Plessis might be the one to miss out with Moeen Ali and Sam Curran in the reckonings.
Dwayne Bravo:
Dwayne Bravo recently retired from international cricket after the T20 World cup 2021 and he has been one of the best T20 players going around in the globe. His age factor will be one of the worries for CSK and hence, they might think of someone like Sam Curran seeing the future.
Bravo has been a vital option for the Chennai Super Kings in the death overs and it will be one of the areas, CSK will be missing in the upcoming years. Bravo has been part of the franchise since 2010 and he is one of the big names that are unlikely to be retained for IPL 2022.
