IPL 2022 Auction: 10 Star Players Who Might Not Get A Bid. The IPL 2022 has had a big expectation already and the 10-team tournament will feature a lot of star players going into the auction pool which will be fascinating to watch. Each of the eight-team will be allowed to retain four players ahead of the mega auction while the two new teams will be allowed to retain three players from the remaining players that go into the auction.

It is not a certainty that teams will be looking out for experience and most of the franchises will be in fact, have an eye on the youngsters who would become superstars in the future. With the mega action coming up in January next year, it is time to look into 10-star players who might not get a bid.

Chris Gayle:

Chris Gayle has been one of the best T20 players if not the best, and the 41-year-old did not have the best of IPL in the 2021 season. He was assigned the role at number three for Punjab Kings and he finished with just 193 runs in 10 games and never looked the same he was in the past. His poor performance continued into the T20 World cup 2021 and is unlikely to get a bid next year.

Ajinkya Rahane:

Ajinkya Rahane hasn’t had many chances in the IPL in the last two seasons for the Delhi Capitals and he had one of his worst IPL seasons last year with just one fifty. He played the first two games of this IPL 2021 and did not get a place in the playing XI after that. He is starting to show some good form in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and it won’t be a surprise if he goes unsold in the mega auction.

Steve Smith:

Steve Smith is considered to be one of the best players going around in the world but he isn’t more suited to T20 cricket. He remains to be a a great asset in the longer format for Australia but doesnt have the flair in T20 cricket to get a bid in the IPL. He got a lot of chances in this IPL 2021 for the Delhi Capitals but wasnt consistent enough to hold on to his place.

Kedar Jadhav:

The veteran batsman Kedar Jadhav has lost his way totally and he couldn’t contribute to the Sunrisers Hyderabad with both bat or ball. He finished with just 55 runs in 6 games in the middle overs and is looking unlikely to get a bid in this season. He might have to show his big-hitting skills in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to make a case again in IPL.

Riyan Parag:

Riyan Parag is another upcoming youngster who needs to groom his game a little bit to be a lot more successful in the upcoming editions of IPL. He is still very young and he could manage just 93 runs in this IPL season for the Rajasthan Royals. He will need some more domestic experience and the franchises will be looking at him in the future rather than now.

Eoin Morgan:

Eoin Morgan has been superb with his captaincy for the Kolkata Knight Riders and he managed to take the side from seventh position before the UAE phase to finishing as the runner up in the IPL 2021. The England skipper however, wasn’t at his best with the bat scoring just 133 runs in 17 matches. His IPL numbers so far might not be enough for him to earn a bid next year.

Daniel Christian:

Daniel Christian on the back of a good BBL season was picked up again in the IPL 2021 by the Royal Challengers Bangalore but he couldn’t get going with either bat or ball. He was promoted to number three in the batting order and he fell cheaply again. He is unlikely to get a bid next season considering his overall IPL numbers.

Harbhajan Singh:

Harbhajan Singh has been one of the best contributors to Indian cricket over the years, but he is approaching the end of his career and he might soon announce his retirement from all the formats as well. He played just the two games for Kolkata Knight Riders at the start of thes season and wasn’t preferred after that. He might well go unsold in the auction as well.

Tom Curran:

Tom Curran has had a big reputation in T20 cricket having played around the globe but he has always been one of the most expensive bowlers. He played a few games for the Delhi Capitals and he was preferred ahead as the death overs specialist always. It did not work as he has been conceding a lot of runs and is unlikely to get a bid next season.

Tim Southee:

Tim Southee is another star who has had a mediocre IPL record despite having a brilliant T20 international record. He was brought into the Kolkata Knight Riders side as a replacement for Pat Cummins this season and he did not have a big impact in the side. He has played for various franchises in the past and has never looked very threatening with the ball in IPL. He is unlikely to get a bid next year.
